The basic condition of admission is talent for creative work. In addition to demonstrable talent, general education, an overview of developments in cultural and art history, an orientation in contemporary art and specialist knowledge (knowledge of photographic techniques and the history of photography), the candidate is also expected to have the will to work on his/her own development.
- Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning:

The programme does not have any specific requirements for the recognition of prior learning.
The procedure for recognition at AMU is governed by Articles 89 and 90 of the Act on Higher Education Institutions No. 111/1998 Coll., as amended, and by the AMU Attendance and Examination Regulations (Articles 8, 14, 18).

Required qualifications: A completed secondary or a completed secondary vocational education; exceptionally, it is also possible to admit candidates without a completed secondary, a completed secondary vocational or higher vocational education at a conservatory.
Regulations: The Czech education system is governed by the Act on Higher Education Institutions, as amended (Act No. 111/1998 Coll.), and by the internal regulations of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.

The Bachelor?s programme is focused on understanding and adopting the knowledge and skills of the field on the theoretical as well as practical levels, and on acquiring knowledge of other disciplines, in particular in the area of art. A matter of course is mastery of the technical issues of photography and immediately related fields. The programme develops the student?s talent and offers the possibility to find his/her own creative orientation and opinions. Photography is understood as an integral component of modern communicative systems using the visual language in a creative manner. In the programme, photographic production is traced not only from the perspective of the theory, technique, history and aesthetics of the field, but also from the point of view of social science research and various forms of application in contemporary society. The programme is orientated towards the preparation of independent creative professionals. It provides the student with a wide range of expert, creative and human approaches, and thus enables him/her to form his/her own viewpoint.
- Key learning outcomes:

The Bachelor?s programme graduate understands the principles and contexts of production in his/her field, is orientated in the field in historical and contemporary contexts, including the context of the artistic scene. He/she has mastered the technological issues of the field and knows how to find solutions to specific production tasks independently.
During the course of the programme, he/she has increasing possibilities to select a specific orientation for his/her own work on both the practical and theoretical levels. Practical instruction in photography develops the student?s talent, knowledge and skills in the areas of the studio's focus through classic photographic technique as well as the digital method using the latest technology.
- Occupational profiles of graduates with examples:

A graduate of the Bachelor?s programme in Photography is prepared for creative as well as theoretical types of work relating to the field, and is able to further progress in these areas. He or she has a sufficient overview of the varied aspects of the history and theory of the field, understands the principles and has mastered the technological requirements of production, and is capable of creatively applying all of this knowledge. He/she is capable of successfully performing independent work as well as teamwork in various areas of the field.
After completing a pedagogical minimum, he/she can also work as a pedagogue in lower types of vocational schools with a similar focus.

- Examination regulations, assessment and grading:

Studies are assessed by credits and examinations stipulated by study plans. The student is informed of these through the information system.
The student registers for examinations using the information system, and is entitled to a second and third attempt to pass an examination. If neither of these attempts proves successful, the Dean may in exceptional cases permit a fourth attempt (administered by a commission). It is not permitted to repeat an examination for the main subjects or to repeat written examinations.
The credit is an ungraded form of assessment of studies. It is allocated upon fulfilment of requirements stipulated for individual subjects and is recorded in the information system with the word ?Credited? (Z). An examination is a graded form of assessment of studies, which tests knowledge and level of creativity in the relevant subject. In the main subjects, examinations are administered by a commission. An examination may be practical, written, oral, or involve a combination of these methods. Examinations are graded on the scale ?A, B, C, D, E, F?.
