- Specific admission requirements:

On the basis of a submitted authored film with parameters corresponding to the Bachelor?s graduate animated film, the candidate demonstrates his/her talent prerequisites for the Master?s programme, orientation in the genres and technologies of animation, and inclination towards the relevant profession in animated or alternative film. Another prerequisite for the Master?s programme is the demonstration of comprehensive specialist knowledge of the field of animation, its history and theory, and the presentation of a project (directing sketch, description of technology, script) which the candidate intends to realise in the Master?s programme.

The procedure for recognition at AMU is governed by Articles 89 and 90 of the Act on Higher Education Institutions No. 111/1998 Coll., as amended, and by the AMU Attendance and Examination Regulations (Articles 8, 14, 18).

Required qualifications: A completed university education in a Bachelor?s programme in Animated Film or in a related field.
Regulations: The Czech education system is governed by the Act on Higher Education Institutions, as amended (Act No. 111/1998 Coll.), and by the internal regulations of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.

The goal of the Master?s programme is for the graduate to attain the top level of professional achievement. The Master?s programme is focused on further developing talent and on defining the student?s creative individuality, so that the graduate is capable of addressing an animated film as a whole from the topic, script and artistic solution, to the animation, to the directing. An important component of the Master?s programme is the student?s familiarisation with the issue of combining acted and animated film.
- Key learning outcomes:

The graduate of the two-year Master?s programme has mastered at a high professional level a wide range of approaches and techniques in animated film, in particular those which are currently perceived in the continuously developing and transforming segment of animated cinematography as experimental and innovative. He/she has also mastered the approaches and methods of acted film and their application in animated film, and is capable of creating combined (animated and acted) films on a professional level. He/she has acquired a wide spectrum of knowledge, in particular in the area of cinematography and in the general history and theory of art, and is capable of critical self-reflection on the basis of this knowledge.

The goal of the Master?s programme is to train graduates who are completely independent, markedly cultivated and stylistically defined creative personalities capable of creating a distinctive authored work in a segment of animated cinematography in all common formats and techniques, either completely individually or in the position of director coordinating and directing a creative team of collaborators.

- Examination regulations, assessment and grading:

Studies are assessed by credits and examinations stipulated by study plans. The student is informed of these through the information system.
The student registers for examinations using the information system, and is entitled to a second and third attempt to pass an examination. If neither of these attempts proves successful, the Dean may in exceptional cases permit a fourth attempt (administered by a commission). It is not permitted to repeat an examination for the main subjects or to repeat written examinations.
The credit is an ungraded form of assessment of studies. It is allocated upon fulfilment of requirements stipulated for individual subjects and is recorded in the information system with the word ?Credited? (Z). An examination is a graded form of assessment of studies, which tests knowledge and level of creativity in the relevant subject. In the main subjects, examinations are administered by a commission. An examination may be practical, written, oral, or involve a combination of these methods. Examinations are graded on the scale ?A, B, C, D, E, F?.
