Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Lectures over two semesters prepare pianists for professional teaching at all levels of elementary schools, performance courses, seminars and competition juries. Lectures are supplemented in each semester of Teaching Practice providing students, in individual lessons, potential independent teaching of pupils. This course leads to the state bachelor's exam for acquiring teaching qualification where the practical and theory level of the student performance is comprehensively assessed.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Analysis of selected works from a fundamental conservatory repertoire.

Course contents:

The didactics are tied to all instructional procedures including the specification of methodological outputs and the quality of outputs in interpretive fields.

- Conservatory piano instruction design, curriculum, individual approach to pupil training and its intentions and potential

- Searching for talent, creating conditions for successful study, motivation and cultivation of desire, establishing realistic goals, linking music to other types of art and general knowledge.

- Listening training, metro-rhythmic feeling, color in keystrokes, understanding the purpose of the composers text, finding the content of the musical statement, supporting the independent creative approach of the pupil in interpretation.

- Cross-section of study material for piano for all 6 years of conservatory

- Preparations for commission exams, concert performance and competitions, viewpoints of classification, preparations for higher institutes of study

- Specific issues of piano instruction for students with health disabilities

- Teaching students at Intermediate education schools and students at secondary schools where piano is part of professional preparations

- Piano methods instruction at education schools and preparing the graduates of those school for the profession of piano instruction

- Piano duo instruction methods.
