The aim is to teach students to independently implement figured and non-figured basso-continuo of 17th and 18th century Italian music.

Peformance of accordant compositions in class and in concerts.

Course contents:

Introduction to Italian basso continuo.

Recommended or required reading:

Solo compositions for one instrument and basso continuo and chamber music with basso continuo by Italian composers (Vivaldi, Corelli, Veracini and others).

Cantatas for voice and basso continuo (Vivaldi, Haendel, Scarlatti and others.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Active participation in lectures with instruction.
