Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Acquisition of experience in piano playing instruction and a creative approach to resolving teaching issues in working with exceptionally talented pupils at Arts Elementary Schools and students at conservatories and music high-schools.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Creation of a pupil study plan and their systematic instruction. Managment of pupil study documents. Preparations for a semester concert models and assessment. Particpation in discussion.

Course contents:

- Examples of covered topics in lectures from Piano Methods (Harpsichord study)

- Independent treatment of problematic piano instruction in working with pupils (students from ZUS, conservatories, etc. at various levels of advancement)

- Preparing students for the instruction of a pupil, assesment of progress and discussion.

- Selection of repertoire for students, constructing a study plan, time arrangement of material in a lesson, various types of lessons, managing student study documents.

- Basic phases of working on a compositions with a pupil.

- Preparation of pupils for competitions, concert performance or talent tests at conservatories, etc.

Current instruction curriculum from arts elementary schools, conservatories and music high schools

Assessment methods and criteria:

Completion of the instruction model in the presence of the lead instructor. Exam.
