In the second semester the Choreography Seminar will cover the practical aspect of the assignment: Theme and variation. Students select through their own inspiration a music composition of that type. The same as a music composer, the choreographer creates a movement theme and develops that theme into movement variations.
The main education aim is that the movement theme is as closely linked as possible to the music composition. The selection of movement tools, spatial treatment and dynamics develop through inspiration and at the same time respect the music form and original choreography theme. This is a purely abstract choreography without an effort towards content. The number of performances is open.
The semester paper: The student prepare an abstract choreography composition of their own choice Theme and Three Variations in a length of 5 minutes.
The study choreography will be performed in an exam before a Dean's committee.
