Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Summary and assessment of the development of modern dance on domestic stages: an overview of selected material in relation to world dance events, current trends and movement theatre.

Mode of study:

Lecture, media sample analyses, exercises, visits to relevant performances, active monitoring of the development of dance domestically and abroad.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Knowledge of material from previous lectures, exercises and classes.

Course contents:

The works of world choreographers in the 1980-90s and their relationship to the Czech dance scene.

Recommended or required reading:

Dance Journals

Dance International

Video recordings from private archives: recordings from High-schools Ensemble, Dance Center Prague, National Theatre, Television documentaries about modern dance arts.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Credit is awarded based on: participation in lecture and exercises and fulfillment of written analyses

Condition for successfull completion of the course: study and presentation of a choreography example.
