Learning outcomes of the course unit:

This course is to expand theory and history knowledge in examples linked to history and theory perspectives of research.

Mode of study:

Presentation with media recorded examples, discussion.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Presumed completion of history and theory courses in the bachelor's and master's studies. Requires a good bearing in dance history and theory.

Course contents:

Instruction content originates in the lecture intentions announced for the given school year. These lectures are from „Dance in Religion and Philosophy, Development of Graphic Dance Notation, History of Dance Music, and Development of 17th and 18th Century Dance which are announced with consideration of the courses “Selected Lectures in Dance Research Systems and Selected Lectures in the History of Dance. Students have a representative range of research topics. Detailed syllabuses are found in those courses and for Selected Lectures in Dance Research Systems.

Recommended or required reading:

Selected literature from individual courses: „Development of Dance Graphic Notation, History of Dance Music, Dance in Religion and Philosophy, Development of Theatre Dance of the 17th and 18th Centuries.“

Assessment methods and criteria:

Participation in lectures, a paper on a selected artist, oral exam. Overall grading is comprised of 25% for the paper, 25% for the test results and 50% for the oral exam.

The conditions for successfull completion of the course: competion and presentation of a paper, participation in lectures, sitting the test and oral exam.
