Learning outcomes of the course unit:

A. The aim is to manage basic knowledge of the trade, learning the consolidated fundamentals of techniqe, physial fitness, theory knowledge and finally, professional ethics.

Instruction focuses on the development of personal talent and style which is intimate to the student and may be used across types of arts and genres.

B. Lessons of modern dance for beginners including an introduction to basic dance technique, dance teachers and choreographers Jose Limon and Merce Cunningham.

Mode of study:

A.

Exercises developing acting and improvisation on a given topic. Practice and interpretation of a received etude. Creating one's own etude and movment study. Trade literature readings. Analysis of classical and modern recorded creations. Monitoring of modern theatre.

B.

Limon Technique - working with the body with gravity in mind. Learning the center of the body in moving in a space. Tensing and relaxing muscles with breathing. Attention is also given to suspension-holding movement in the air at the highest point.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

1. Talent - completion of an acting talent exam at an arts school

2. movement and health disposition

3. basic bearing in theatre and cultural events.

Course contents:

Movement technique acquaints students with proper exercise technique through the maintenance of the nature of the anatomy of human body movement apparatus.

1. Basic exercises

basic knowledge of Merce Cunningham and J. Limóna- warm-up exercises to strengthen and sensitization of the body as a means of expression

- Basic exercises to control body movement izolatin , successional movement ,

rehearse shorter motion variations in space stands on the site

2.The second movement in space with the practice of spatial orientation

3. if creating your own short movement variations .

Limon-Cunningham combined dance technique

Winter semester:

instruction in basic exercises and simple dance variations in place which practice this dance technique with an emphasis on the alternation of muscle tension and relaxation and proper breathing. We exercise individual parts of the body separately. I create and instruct proper posture exercises, foot movement, placement of the hips in parallel and turned positions, working with the trunk and spine, guiding successional arms, use of head weight, trunk, pelvis

Summer semester:

Instruction of more complex movement phrases and joining movements of individual parts of the body into an overall movement of the whole body in coordination. We use the weight of the head, arms, trunk and pelvis or legs with the use of gravity in a spatial movement.

The Cunningham technique is based on precise movement form and working with the body.

Winter semester

Instruction in basic exercises gradually from the warm-up of the back, feet, legs and arms in continuous M. Cunningham exercises (ex: 6t exercises) and simple movments in a space (ex: tripplett).

Summer semester:

Instruction in more complex and longer movement phrases in place and in a space. Arrangement of small and large jumps (leaps, skips)

Instruction in one lesson of both techniques is intentional because the supplement each other.

The Limon techniqe teaches so called dance ability of the body so there is an alternation of muscle tension and relaxation. The Cunningham technique places demands on posture, precise body placement and that of its parts in a space for better awareness of dancer movement. It trains the muscles necessary for healthy and proper movement and dance, joining thought and developing movement intelligence.

Assessment methods and criteria:

A.

Credit awarded based on:

1. completion of assignments in the given semester in corresponding extent and quality.

2. exercise participation and individual preparations.

3. presentation.

During the semester expected is: participation in instruction, improvemtn in the covered techniques, independent preparations of the assignments, professionalism towards the group in group assignments, activity leading to the refinement of original thought and investigation of individual potential in originality based on a synthesis of the instructed genre.

B.

1) 100% attendance at class 2 hours per week and at the weekly workshop arranged during the exam period.

2) Completion of the Summary exam at the end of the semester for receiving a grade in the form of and exam.
