Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Acquistion of practical knowledge and experience in working with specific music theory texts in their time and subject. Cultivation of abilities in analytical and critical viewpoints on already existing from all categories. In the light of the acquired knowledge, experience and abilities to conceive one's own music theory text from coursework from the bachelor's, master's and eventually doctoral writings.

Students gradually are introduced to a representative collection of professional musicological literature.

Mode of study:

Course of student performances and subsequent discusions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

No elective requirements for this semester.

Course contents:

An obligatory course of Music Theory study. Classes are 1 hour per week in the Winter semester in the 1st year of bachelor's study. The course is linked to lectures in „Music Theory, History and Systems“. The instruction in this semester is in classes and is focused particularly on introducing students to basic methodologies of professional practice with music theory texts in their analytical study and creation.

The original topics: Music theory as a part of systematic musicology. Classification of music theory texts.

Students independently develop their first music theory text of (2-3 pages) of 4-5 for a semester. The semester work is the other requirement for closing the semester with credit.
