Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Continuation of the course Analysis of a Music Theory Writing 3. A writing of medium length and medial complexity is studied. This focuses on literature about music of the 19th century. A parallel study of classical music theory practice. Preparation of a topic and outline for the bachelor's thesis.

Mode of study:

Classes with individual student performances and subsequent discussion.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Completion of Music Theory Text Analysis 3. No other requirements.

Course contents:

A required course for Music Theory studies. Instruction is 1 hour per week in the summer semester of the 2nd year of Master's study. Linking of Music Theory, History and Classification. Course is concluded with credit at the end of the semester based on the year's written work. Course content is linked to the Analysis of Music Theory Writings 3. Students study muisc theory writings of intermediate length and complexity. Particular focus is on music of the 19th century. Simutaneously the study of the basic list of music theory classics continues. Bachelor's thesis topic and basic points preparations.
