Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Detailed work on selected compositions for Piano trio by Czech and world composers. Development of skill from the previous level of instrument study focusing on coordination, ensemble homogenity, style purity in performance and expanding the repertoire.

Mode of study:

Individual preparations under the guidance of the instructor and subsequent concert performance.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Completion of the Bachelor's Instrument study is required - playing an instrument which is part of the elective Chamber playing study.

Recommended or required reading:

The study literature originates in the very rich and diverse possible selection of compositions for Piano Trio (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Dvořák, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Smetana, Ravel, etc.) It is to be focused on important works of Czech and world composers from the Classic to contemporary works and take into consideration the variety of composition styles in creating the ensemble study plan. The literature selection also, of course, is dependent on the abilities and potential of the students considering the constant cultivation of high performance quality. As well, the participation of the ensemble in international competitions influences the study program in the repertoire for individual competitions.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Credit is awarded based on exercise participation, study and presentation quality of at least 2 piano trios.
