Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Learning to use tools offered by drama theory for analysis and interpretation of a drama text and on that basis be able to select an appropriate text (from the viewpoint of its dramatic and theatrical quality as well as appropriateness for a particular ensemble). Interpret and create one's own drama directed concept for stage production. To be able to take away knowledge and experience through the creative channel and apply to the needs of childrens theatre.

Mode of study:

Drama text readings and analyses, viewing staging recordings and their analyses, discussion.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

1. General knowledge of Czech and world drama literature.

2. Basic bearing in literary theory.

3. Analytical and review skills.

Course contents:

Dramaturgy Fundamentals is focused on the explication of the basic concepts in drama theory and an understanding of the manner in which a drama work may be conceived and what makes the essence of its dramatic effect.

Curriculum:

-Dramaturgy as a function of theatre.

- Drama.

- Situation, dramatic situation, stage situation.

- Dramatic conflict.

- A dramatic event and dramatic plot.

- A dramatic figure and stage figure.

- Dramaturgic analysis.
