Learning outcomes of the course unit:

- To expand awareness in theatrology.

- Link knowledge of theatre history and theory to experience with theatre acted by children.

- Be aware of the particulars of theatre acted by children and youth.

Mode of study:

Readings, moderated discussions, discussions, text analyses.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

- Analytical and interpretation skills.

- Knowledge of the history of Czech and world theatre (completion of History of Czech and World Theatre).

- Good bearing in theatre terminology.

- Completion of Methods of Theatre with Children and Youth.

Course contents:

An elective course expanding knowledge from various areas of theatrology, particularly in relation to the particulars of theatre played by children and youth.

- Development of psychotechnique from Aristotle to the present.

- Zich's Aesthetics of drama arts.

- Czech structuralism: Mukařovský, Jakobson, Veltruský, Procházka.

- Drama and theater.

- Constructing a drama.

- Elements of theatre expression.

- Indicator, movement of theatre indicators.

- Hierarchy of elements in theatre artefacts, constructing a production.

- Theatre genres.

- Dramatic and stage situations, behaviour in a drama, civil interaction.

- Theatre and communication.
