Learning outcomes of the course unit:

- Recognize and appreciate the natural laws of speaking performance in practice, develop ability to sense and judge the quality of a text, search for a method of how to communicate to the public personal experience from readings, personal opinion and attitude.

- Based on text analysis, to purposefully use internal and external expression tools. Use skills acquired in the voice training course in the preparations of solo and group performance.

- Be introduced to methods to spontaneously guide children towards recitation. Discuss a range of topics in which children are interested relative to their age.

Contact instruction, Individual instruction, Discussion, Recorded solo and group recital samples analysis, Readings, Text interpretation and analysis.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Each student, future drama training teacher, should have personal experience with the preparation and execution of a solo performance and, possibly, group performance. Based on the knowledge of this process, the student should know how to relate and use the acquired experience with children and youth. Varied and interesting activites will awaken their interest in literature, reading and performance. An important condition for acquiring this experience is an active participation in the lessons.

Curriculum

- Perosnal devleopment via activities aimed at performance.

- Building a foundation for recitation preparations.

- Working with particular materials.

Syllabus

- Training in sensible imagination. (association, imagination, working with metaphor, sub-text).

- Use of personal experience for understanding the life experiences of other people. The old regarding the new.

- Judging the artistic maturity of poems.

- Looking under the surface of the text at it core, significance, in depth.

- Sensitive „analysis“ of a text. (Intuitive recitation, intuitive assembly).

- Range, composition, assembly.

- Inspired writing. (We can understand the poet when we at least try, for a moment, to become one.)

- Ego - image of oneself. (Material me, social me, spiritual me)

- Selection of text with consideration of the psycho-physical prerequisites, life and interpretive experience.

- Dramaturgic Analysis. (Uncovering the sense, relationship to life experience, form, language, style).

- Interpretation preparations. (Creating the performance, internal organization of the text, public speaking techniques, rehearsing, establishing the form.)

- Communication. Author, reader, performer, listener - audience. Feedback.

- Extra-lingual tools. (movement, attitude, gesture, countenance; space, lighting, costumes, „emotional impact on the audience“)

- Evaluation criteria for performance. How does a children's performance differ from an artistic performance.
