Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Course aims:

1. Acquaint students with a variety of content of the commonly used concept of intellectual property rights and its schema.

2. Acquaint students with relevant legal provisions for individual types of intellectual property rights.

3. Adopt practical knowledge, abilities and skills for the students to be able to judge intellectual property rights issues in practice and, in particular, in the performance of production activities.

Mode of study:

Typical university class at the master's level in which the student after preparation at home of content previously recommended by the instructor confers with the instructure during the course.

None.

Course contents:

1. Legal content of intellectual property rights, it rights, international aspects.

2. Patent rights - inventions, useful examples, improvement proposals, criteria, registration, lenght of duration.

3. Trademark law - protected trademarks, criteria, registration, international aspects.

4. Origin protection and geographic designation - impact on practice.

5. Competition law (unfair competition) - analysis of legislation in the civil code, case studies.

6. Trade secrets including know-how protection.

7. Media rights.

8. Internet legal issues (domain protection, obligations and rights according to the law No#. 489/2004 Sb., etc....).

9. Relationship of individual types of intellectual property to copyright.

10. Intellectual property protection and its enforcement.

11. Scope and activitie of the Institute of industrial property.
