Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The course aims to:

1) to familiarize students with the basic terminology and approaches in the field of ecology and sustainable development;

2) introduce students to the possibilities of the application of ecological approaches and sustainable development in the arts with an emphasis on theater sector;

3) and finally show the students practical examples of the application of ecology and sustainable approach in the field of performing arts.

Students completing the course will be able to take basic steps to a greener planning and operating within the performing arts.

Mode of study:

Lectures, seminary paper and it's presentation.

Course contents:

The course presents a seemingly new perspective on theatrical production. The production and its individual components, is here seen through the lens of ecology and sustainable development. The course focuses mainly on production and operation of the theater process (planning, production, operations, waste management, as well as marketing, PR and audience development). One of the main aspects of the monitored application of ecological / sustainable behavior in the theater there is economic profitability.

Curriculum:

1. Explanation of terms and a brief insight into the history.

2. Connecting the ecology and sustainable development with arts.

3. Ecology and sustainable development in the theater sector.

4. Art and ecology - content.

5. Art / theater and ecology - operations.

6. Green Theater Plan, London theater network in the „green“ concept.

7. Abroad case studies.

8. Case studies from the Czech Republic.

9. Production, manufacturing and operations by the optics of sustainable development and ecology.

10. Production, manufacturing and operation through the lens of sustainable development and ecology.

11. Practicum - preparation of student's own project (or application to the chose existing project), application of sustainable development and ecology methods.

12. Summary / credit.
