Learning outcomes of the course unit:

At the close of the course the student will be able to define the fundamental theory of plays and play categories formal indicators and to define a play from a phenomenological and anthropological perspective.

Mode of study:

Writings analysis and discussion.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Analysis and review skills.

Course contents:

In three topic series, (Huizinga - Fink - Caillois) based on readings (selected chapters) and class discussions, students will be able to define the most important concepts and theory of plays. An understanding of the theory writings will be supplemented by examples of plays which will originate in the students' personal experiences.

Assessment methods and criteria:

During the semester independent readings, preparations of partial papers on assigned topics and participation in class discussions are required which are requirements for sitting the exam.
