Theater in Czech Culture - Winter semester 2015
(Exam questions)
1. First phase of the formation of Czech national theatre: Theatre in Kotice, Patriot Theatre, Tyl's program of national theatre, Kajetanski theatre, Czech performances in the Estates theatre.
2. Second phase of the formation of Czech national theatre: idea of national theatre, a council for managing the Czech National theatre, laying of the cornerstone of the National Theatre, Prozatimni theatre and the beginnings of the National Theatre.
3. Revivalist drama (V.K. Klicpera, J.K. Tyl).
4. Realism and Naturalism in Czech theatre and drama, village drama.
5. The Modern in Czech theatre and drama (Modern Revue, Intimate free stage, Lyric theatre, Theatre of the arts, decadance, symbolism).
6. Czech Burgher Problem dramas (K. and J. Čapek, F. Langer).

Grades and credit award conditional upon completion of the exam over the period discussed. The exam is written and oral and verifies the material mastered at the level presented. Also, a knowledge of the prescribed required literature (trade publications and dramas( and a good bearing in wider social contexts.
The Dept. of Theory and Critique has listed three regular and two make-up test dates.
The student is required to register for one of the three listed regular dates.
The second make-up date is in the presence of two instructors.
Students who are registered who do not sit and have no excuse are given a grade of „X“.
Students who do not register for any of the regular date are automatically given a grade of „X“.
If as student does not pass in regular or make-up dates, they may request a Dean's date which is a commission exam.
If the registered student does attend the exam (only for extenuating circumstances), they are to at least one day prior to the exam to apologize to the examiner"
