Overview of the main thought trends about film. Acquaintance with canonic writings in the main film theory currents. Preparation of one's graduation theory paper.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Graduates theory paper 1 & 2.

The bachelors theory paper, methodology class obligatory for the FAMU bachelor's study (or similar at other academies, colleges). Willingness to review a film (primarily the scriptwriting and dramaturgy elements) from various angles and discussion in class.

Course contents:

Continuing preparation of the graduation paper. This course is intended for scriptwriters.

Elsasser-Hagener: Film Theory: An Introduction Through the Senses

Assigned readings throughout the semester

Assessment methods and criteria:

Regular (70%) and participation (assignments - reading assignments, joining in discussions). At the close - outline, introductory chapter of the graduation theory paper, selection of paper advisor.
