Learning outcomes of the course unit:

To supplement an overview of film genres and styles from not merely the perspective of a description and theory of history, but it significance as a communication channel and the possible sense of virtual media providing mutual influences of audience, narrator, artist and producer viewpoints.

Mode of study:

Collection of current media material, discussions about it and student attempts at independent analysis. Lectures on potential perspectives on genre as human universals. Investigating practical examples.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

No requirements for registration.

Issues in contemporary genre works with particular focus new media.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Credit is awarded based on participation in group activities in class and minimum 75% attendance.
