Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Students go thorugh the sequential creative path during the production of an original film in a commonly defined genre /My View of Reality/. From the cultivation of an idea through the written proposal, point script (storyboard) to the final form.

Screenplay deadline: end of Winter Semester (January)

Shooting technology: 16mm (or DV)

Footage: 5-10 minutes

Shooting days: 6

Material: 300m 16mm B/W negative (or 2x mini DV 60 cassettes)

Sound material: 150m mg 16mm (1 band); 1x DAT 65, 1x Minidisc MDW 74; 1x CD-R, 1x S-VHS

Image technology: 16mm silent camera (ex: Bolex Paillard, Canon 16) or 6 days DV camera

Sound technology: MINIDISC, or SONY TCD 5

Editing: 16 freq. editing table 16mm or Avid Xpress DV 8 freq. including log for sound post-production

Sound Post-production: 1 freq. transfer, preparation and setting the mixing - digital sound editing 2 freq., digital mixing workplace 1 freq; transfer of the mix to the master

Transfer: 16mm negative - DV, DV-VHS and DVD, DV-S-VHS with TC

Archiving: DV - FAMU Studio, VHS and DVD - Documentary Dept. video library.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Na Dílně probíhá společné intenzivní hledání vhodného žánru pro ztvárnění „Pohledu na kterém studentovi záleží“. Jak převtělit nápad ve filmové dílo? Autorův Pohled = Film vytváří skutečnost (svého druhu). Na co zaměřit ?můj? pohled, aby mu rozuměli a zajímal i ostatní?

Course contents:

This workshop prepares the implementation of the original film My View. The first semester serves for acquiring basic film skills, verification of motivation, investigating topics, defining the genre of My View and creation of the script. The aim of the second semester is intensive consultation on film shooting and editing. The purpose of the course is to guide the student through the process of the development of a work and primarily to stimulate the development of their own film language in the selected genre.
