Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The aim of the module is to acquaint students with research on the borders between, psychology, psichiatry, aesthetics and cultural anthropology. What does the brain do with visual stimuli and what does visual stimuli do to the brain? What colors, shapes or animals influence our emotions or phobias? During the excursion students will have the opportunity to actively or passively participate in experiments (magnetic resonance, eye-tracking, virtual reality, „lie-detector“, visual stimuli devices), which will be supplemented by a presentation of related topics.

An interdisciplinary excursion broadening student awareness of research and technology on the borders between psychology, psychiatry, aesthetics and cultural anthropology

Thurs. 6.4.2017 - National Mental Health Institute

Meeting at 9:00 at the reception of the National Mental Health Institute ((Topolová 748, station Klecany, U hřbitova – bus routes 371 and 374 from Kobylisy). One must be punctual because from 9:30 - 11:00 the EEG is reserved for 2 students to be tested. These students will be selected based on a questionnaire which will be received by registered students before the module.

The registered students will be divided in to groups which will circulate among the individual experimental stations. Students will have the opportunity to create their own video-stimuli which will become a part of the testing itself (one's own laptop with an editing program is an advantage).

90% attendance and participation in excursions.
