Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The aim of this course is to acquaint master's study students with various models of cinematography funding in Europe and to provide as much information as possible about mult-source cinematography finance.

The students will be advised of the current potential in the Czech Republic including the participation of the Czech Republic in international programs. Students, as well, are acquainted with the cinematography financing system in other European countries (state funds, tax relief, regional support, loans, etc.).

State support of cinematography in the Czech Republic

- Legislation on audio-vision - rise of its practical use for Production Dept. students

- State Cinematography Fund - rise and current fund function (development support, production, film incentives?)

- Participation of the Czech Republic in international programs - Media Plus, Eurimages

- European agreements on film co-production

- The Czech Film Center / NFA

Support systems in European countries

- forms of support and their manners of distribution

- direct / indirect support

- selective / automatic support

- state funds, regional support

- tax relief, tax credits, loans, etc.

-multiple source financing

Examples of cinematography support in important European countries. Particularly, emphasis will be placed on states with co-production potential with the Czech Republic.
