Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The purpose of the course is to introduce the students to all general chemical principles s on which analog photography is based and their management in practice.

This course continues the chemistry of photography and furthers develops the subject „Chemistry I - General and Inorganic“ and „Chemistry II - Organic“. The course aim is to introduce the chemical basis of halogen-silver photography, adopting theory knowledge and practical skills in developing material and in subsequent chemical adjustments.

This course includes lectures and exercises.

Lectures:

Latent image theory, Photo-chemical laws, photographi emulsions and contemporary types of silver halide grains, Silver-halogen material types (positive and negative), introduction to sensimetry, developing B/W photographic material, negative and positive harmonization, physical and chemical foundations of shooting a color image on Silver-halogen material, types of contemporary color material and their processing.

Exercises:

preparing a developing bath, kinetic development of B/W negative material, physical development, diffuse development, inverse development, reinforcing and weakening negatives, completing positive copies, toning.
