Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Course of documentary photography continues the reporting creations of the 1st year. An important part of the course is the understanding of the basic markings of documentary photography, its development and changes as well as the adoption of necessary documentary photography skills in the exercises and cultivation of its premises: Ability to acquire information, a bearing in it, perceptual aptitude, visual sensibilities, knowledge of expression tools and image composition, dexterity in easy mastery of photography technology, abilities to analyse facts, visual skills in sharing those facts with an ability predict the final photographic results. Instruction will be directed towards the image composition of a photography publication - common book. Instruction places an emphasis on the personal development of a young photographer.

Consultation on the developing work - from assignment to final implementation 25%

(Concept explication and selected topic, contact sheets, working viewing copies, selection and arranging photos with order marking in the collection or simple reference of the final arrangement in a surface page.

Grading of resulting work: 50%

Course contents:

In the winter semester, students create a photo report on a clearly defined topic which they will choose. This may include school activities as well, ex: a report about the shooting of a school film or the creation of theatre performance, etc, or one may be chosen for them. Upon consultation with the instructor and the writing of a short explication (max. one standard page) the report is implemented. 6 -10 photos in minimum 18x24 cm format. Communicability, imagination and original approach to the assigned topic are evaluated.

Grading of the subsequent work 50%
