Learning outcomes of the course unit:

This course introduces the basic trends of historical development with an emphasis on the history of the European continent in a wider political, cultural and geographic context. The aim is to acquaint students with the most important historical development trends and events. This is in relation to the development and epochs of change of the entire of Europe in a given period in the context of the development of national movements, scientific-technological revolutions and overal economic and power advancements of the European continent. The presentation is understood as an introduction to societal and historical changes which created the context of the development of the photographic media. The main emphasis is placed on phenomena such as - the French Revolution, development of colonial rivalries, national movements and nationalism, rise and development of power balances, the 1st and 2nd World Wars, the bi-polar world.

Course contents:

This course introduces the basic trends in historical development with an emphasis on the history on the European continent in a wider political, cultural and geographic context. The aim is to acquaint students with the most important historical development trends and events. This is in relation to the development and periods reaching across Europe in a given period in the context of national movements, science-technological revolutions and overall economic and rises in powers on the European continent. The presentation is understood as an introduction to the societal and historical changes which created the context for the development of photographic media. The main emphasis is placed on the phenomena of type - French bourgeois revolution, development of colonial rivalries, national movements and nationalism, rise and development of the balance of powers, 1st and 2nd World Wars and the bi-polar world.
