In this course students adopt practices in working with photograph collections.

Course contents:

The Practice course develops student knowledge from the Identification of Photographic material course and courses focused on restoration and photo-documentation. In the first year the course focuses on student encounters with photograph collections and emphasis is placed on identifying individual photographic techniques, primarily using an optical microscope.

In later study years, students focus on issues of damaged photographic material which is in variou institution collections. An investigation of the physical condition of the collection will be performed and on the basis of this assessment restoration intentions will be proposed.
