Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Course content is comprised of an analysis of the cultural and historical context of photography. Students will be acquainted with existing professional writings and also with the potential proper use of archive and other sources.

Mode of study:

Instruction is comprised of individual lectures and discussions on treatment topics. Analysis of corresponding professional texts, sources whether written or image.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

None required. An advantage is a basic bearing in world political events of the 19th and 20th centuries and as well in the issues in the history of art of the 19th and 20th centuries. Also required is the ability to work with professional writings.

Course contents:

This course deals with given issues in the context of historical and cultural developments of the 19th and 20th centuries. In instruction, emphasis will be placed on the ability to use historical sources in one's own interpretation of photographic pieces, etc.
