In 1977 the Canadian composer and theoritican Murray Schaefer introduced the concept of „soundscape.“ From a perspective of acoustic ecology this definition offers a particular glimpse into the sound environment and the relationship among sound elements which define important characteristics of a sound landscape. The is no such thing as an „ugly“ or „pretty“ sound. There are only defined relationships between aesthetic sound perception and its psycho-acoustic characteristics.
