Mode of study:

Workshop pratical

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

It would be particularly good during the course to try (better to remember and to ask) a laptop computer with TB or desktop with TB and ideally a tablet computer.

Course contents:

- A little Theory - advantages and disadvantages of TB opposed to other animation software on the market.

- What is TB appropriate for and what it is not? (primarily vector vs. bitmap)

- TB vs. Flash - or who uses Flash should at least consider TB.

- project examples which use ToonBoom

- aim of this section is to clarify if this interests you at all. That is if you don't have time left for the module it is better that you spend it elsewhere more usefully or pleasurable (still time to escape).

- Introduction to the ToonBoom software company

- questions such as - What is Harmony? etc...

- we will be interested in one part and that is Animate/Harmony - Stage

- ToonBoom Animate/Stage

- interface - where are the controls and how to adjust it for my image.

- simple drawn animation (digital)

- Brush tool / Pencil tool - differences

- Select tool - surprisingly there is a lot to say about this.

- Paint tool + working with palettes and color manager - this is great

- Time line / Xsheet - what? how? why?

- work philosophy with time axis in TB

- layers + sublayers

- difference between Time line and Xsheet - what is this for?

- timing

- onion skin

- camera mode and drawing mode

- Key animations in TB - really only the basic

- key - using transformation (move, rotate, scale)

- PEG layer - significant link

- ease-in / ease-out or curve editor and how to deal with it

- animation cameras

- working with object trajectories

- multiplan or how to get a paralax in TB - also great

- introduction to working with 3D space in TB

- scattering individual plans

- Network view - only the very easy.

- for what, how it is and why it looks the way it does

- write module and setting export

- Export - simply export.
