Deepen knowledge in theory of animation as well as gaining practical skills.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Previous education in the field is welcome, but not required. Students should be albe to draw (even in simple manner), artistic sence and the ability to tell the story in images.

Course contents:

One-semester course in English introducing students the medium of animation to students. The course combines theoretical and practical part, is concludes with a short animation exercise or more short exercises (please see the note).

A / THEORY: Students will learn the specifics of the animated film, along with the instructor will discuss examples Czech and international animation films. They will become familiar with examples of genres and techniques of animatio, they will talk about the script, directing animation and animation techniques.

B / PREPARATION OF A FILM: Students will create topical story, screenplay and storyboard.

(The prepared screenplay might not end up as an executed film (lack of time) but has to lead to deeper understanding of specific animation language anyway.)

C / SHOOTING SHORT ANIMATION EXERCISE: Cutout technology under the photo camera. Alternatively the computer animation.

Attendance and performance. The pass grade is given upon tutor´s mutual agreement and evaluation.
