Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The purpose of the course is an individual glimpse into programming issues in real-time (so called live coding) in the form of independent audio-visual piece. Course students independently propose, develop and implement a audio-visual piece based on live-coding strategy in programming languages of choice (SuperCollider, MAX, PureData, C), which is publically performed at the close of the course in the Winter semester.

Mode of study:

Student work is art research. Each student will develop their own creative concept individually with instructor support. Individual concepts will be further discussed during the course in classes which take place 1x/month for four hours. At the close of course, students present their resulting work publically and provide its documentation in written form, a software prototype, video/audio recording and photographs, which will be publically available on-line.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Advanced knowledge of selected programming languages or modular environment (SuperCollider, MAX, PureData, C). Computer languages are not the subject of instruction.

Course contents:

Art research of a selected issue with the use of real-time programming. Topics are: personal interface for real-time programming, development of a simple supported hardware, coding in 3D space, performivity and elements, imporvisation, working with audio-visual data flow or acoustic devices.
