Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Skills development for communicating in practical situations, describing experiences, events.

Introduction to the basic study area vocabulary

Mode of study:

Readings and text analysis, listenings, presentation and practice of lexis and grammar structures, moderated discussions, preparation and analysis of one's written work, discussions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

A requirement for registration is knowledge to the level of the previous the previous course.

Course contents:

Student is able to manage most situations encountered in travelling in the area where French is spoken. The student is able to write a simple coherent text on a topic known or which is of interest. The student is able to describe experiences, events and briefly explain their opinions and plans.

Topics: Determining times, dates, months of the year, travel.

Grammar: separative article, ordinal numbers, irregular noun and adjective plural constructions, graded adjectives and adverbs, prepositional phrases, 2nd class verbs and other irregular verbs with -ir, past tense reflexives, interogative pronouns qui, que, emphasized phrases C'est....qui, c'est que.

Topics and grammar correspond with lessons 17-20 of the main coursebook.
