Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Learning outcomes of the course

The aim of the course is a glimpse into the issues of historically educated interpretation.

1. basic concepts and terminology (in a period context)

2. bearin in the literature (where to find more detailed information)

3. style variances (period and regional)

Mode of study:

Lecture supplemented by sound and score samples requiring student participation.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Partial knowledge of 17th and 18th century music and not only for keyboard instruments.

Course contents:

HIstorical sources covering keyboard insterpretation - G. Frescobaldi, M. Lambert, F. Couperin, J. Ph. Rameau, C. Ph. E. Bach, F. W. Marpurg, D. G. Türk and others, supplemented by listening to recordings. Openness to other topics according to the desires and needs of the students.

During the semester the student is required to do independent readings and participate in discussion. 70% lecture attendance is required. If not managed for health reasons substitute tasks may be requested.
