Learning outcomes of the course unit:

This course provides students with an overview of the methodology basis used in modern dance research. It introduces current research topics and expands the theory foundation for independent research activity in the field, for example for the bachelor's thesis.

Mode of study:

Discussion, text analyses, class assignments.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Completion of the Dance Research Pro-Seminar and Historical Dance Research are presumed. An overview of dance history and basics of systematic dance research. This course continues Dance Research Methodology 1.

Course contents:

In the second semester Dance Research Methodology focuses on issues regarding the concept and development of students' research text (their bachelor's thesis). This covers particularly conception and adaptation principles for a research text such as citations, literature and resource references, footnotes, addendums and their concept, text graphics, etc. Also, in the course, in general, students deal with methodology issues which they encounter in their work and which define the topic selection and texts in which the issue is displayed. During the semester students, if possible, take part in the research activity of the Dance Research Institute, in possible attendance of colloquiums and seminars, and if possible with their own contributions.
