Two-day workshop focused on practical training in rhythmic structures inspired by Indian and African music. These rhythms appear more and more in contemporary compositioinis and their exact and reliable interpretation requires different thinking at the side of the performenrs than the interpretation of European classical music. Understanding the principles of these structures essentially simplifies reading of the scores of many contemporary composers (as well as the classics like Messiaen, Carter or Nancarrow). The workshop will be in English, with simultaneous translation into Czech. It will open with basic training of African rhythms, then variation techniques will be practiced. In the second day there will be one part devoted to the vocal percussion konnakol and the last part will connect more layers in polyrhythms.
