Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Mastery of complete expression based on the musical and textual demands of melodrama.

Mode of study:

Practical exercises with piano accompaniment, listening to professional recordings of melodrama creations of various periods. Study of selected melodramas.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Musical feeling, phrasing with respect to the rhythmic demands of a work.

Course contents:

Learning about the genre of melodrama from its beginnings to the present, practical performing of classic Czech melodrama, cooperation with young composers on creating new melodramas based on selected poetic texts, participation in international competitions.
