Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The course content is focused on the developing the students' skills in study and planning, implementing and assessing lessons using internal drama structuring procedures and methods (school, narrative drama). Students, using their own adventures and experiences introduce this type of drama, purposefully linking the emotional and rational and reviews effectivity of the methods used, including joining the instructor into role play. Students will be aware of and able to designate the particulars of this practice, its character and basic tools.

The course aim is to equip students with theory fundamentals of this manner of education as well. This experience is subsequently used by student in their independent planning, implementation and consideration of a structured drama lesson with various age groups.

Mode of study:

Execution of a drama with the students in acting roles. Review of experience. Analysis, Discussion, Lecture, Assessment and mentoring of student performance.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Students should be able to actively participate in role play, collaborate within its parameters with the other actors, take part in investigating selected topics and reflect upon their experiences and acquired skills.

Course contents:

Curriculum:

- Active participation in drama games.

- Situation and context.

- Drama techniques/conventions.

- Role play.

- Problem situations.

Syllabus:

- Active participation in drama games: execution and reflecting upon several large plays/dramas under the guidance of the instructor.

- Situation and context: manners of chain reaction (plot and assembly); significance of a narrative; working with time and means; researching topics from various aspects.

- Drama techniques/conventions: dividing events (discretion, distance and reflecting upon them); gradual play challenge; some classification techniques (Jonothan Neelands, Josef Valenta).

- Role play: various levels of role playing; roles for groups/actors; roles for instructors.

- Problem situations: problem, conflict, problem situation; open and closed situations; consistent and inconsistent situations; manners of setting up; setting in a drama structure.
