Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Ability to analyse a drama text and staging (basic terminology)

Theatre critical thinking abilities.

Mode of study:

Instruction is in block form (that is; one week of instruction, one week of independent study of selected material). Aside from the classes and lectures part of the course is a paper with sources (primarily video-recordings of stagings) and analysis of selected stagings; some from Czech theatres.

None.

Course contents:

This course is focused primarily on the basic theatre terminology and theory origins, fundamental to the presentation of a drama text and theatre staging which the student should know and how to use in practice in written form and publicity. The aim of the course is to learn elementary terminology, and theatre and drama theory, apply them in the analysis of a text or dramaturgy presentation. Part of the course is an introduction to critical thinking about theatre staging (what conceptual apparati to use in evaluating a staging).
