- Learning outcomes of the course unit:

1. To introduce students to the concepts of theatre semiotics of Ivo Osolsobě in a wider historical context. To trace in detail how it developed from the second half of the 1960s and how he was the originator of correction in the global development of so called semiotics of the „first“ and „second“ wave of Osolsobě's particular division of that scientific knowledge into the specific surroundings of the genesis of a theatre act.
2. To guide students to the thought world of Ivo Osolsobě, to thoroughly research his theory work it historical context in which it was gradually formed. Osolsobě's concept of theatre performance as a three dimensional communication model functioning on the basis of three mutually linked communication levels: communication of communication about communication.
- Mode of study:

Presentation of the concept of original, model, type, token, also and thoroughly, explanation of the concept of „ostenze“. In the second part of the course there will be semantic analysis of additional concepts which Osolsobě used in his activities: response, feedback contact, indications of theatre semiosis, theatri(sti)c. Critical readings of Osolsobě's writings and subsequent group discussions about them.

1. Osolsobě's concept of a theatre piece as a semiotic - communication model using period discoveries in semiotics, cybernetics, modelling theory and information theory. This is in the context of the 1960s, 70s and 80s.
2. Comparison of Osolsobě's concept of theatre theory with other theatrological approaches in Czech and foreign contexts, (Barthes, Pavis, Kowzan, Eco, Elam, Sebeok, Bateson, Quinn, de Marinis, Císař, Hořínek, Vostrý, Mistrík, Etlík and others). The positives and negatives of Osolsobě's concept of theatre as a token token (or token, token, token) model. Fundamental contribution of the concept of ostenze for arts research. Following this will be an explanation of that perspective of theatre theory. Influence of Osolsobě's theatre - theory studies on contemporary Czech thought on theatre.

Grading and credit are awarded based on a minimum 80% attendance at lectures which is a requirement for sitting the exam. Grading will be done upon the close of the lecture series by the oral exam.
