- Learning outcomes of the course unit:

1. To introduce students to theatre theory issues in their breadth and, as well, instruct the elementary theatre studies concepts used in Czech theatre research. This introduces, of course, the context of the contemporary development of general arts theory and aesthetics and in the context of the most diverse methods schools and theatre research trends abroad.
2. To introduce in detain the structural - semiotic view of theatre, predominantly in Czech theatre theory and, of course it limits and disadvantages.
3. To cultivate an ability in the students to have a bearing at a high level in theatre theory issues, a ta general level and from the viewpoint of individual types of theatre, or other arising in recent times, types of theatre or performance events.

1. Theatre theory focused on creating a theatre work.
2. Basic terminology, domestic and abroad.
3. Theatre semiotics.
4. Concept of the structure and composition.
5. Advantages and disadvantages of structural - semiotic approaches to a theatre work.
6. Issues in theatre interpretation.

Grading and credit is awarded based on a minimum of 80% participation in lectures, which is a condition for sitting the exam. Grading is completed at the end of the lecture cycle by an oral or as the case may be, written exam.
