Film directing II is intended for 3rd year FAMU directing students and also for 3rd-year DAMU acting students.

Course contents:

The purpose of the preparations is collaboration of a director with several actors where the director selects and edits a short text of about 3-5 pages, casts the actors and learns to communicate with them. This is means not only to explain fundamental situations and the background of the entire story but, also the characteristics of the roles, their motivation and mutual relationships. While working the director improves skills in giving specific tasks, set-out the entire mis-en-scena, and in directing, focus on details. As well, the director must outline the idea of the technical script, propose the dimensions of individual shots, their length and coordinate the entire tempo of the acting with camera movement. Considering the absence of the cameraman, the director must also think about technical aspects of recording - using various camera levels, acceleration or slowing down of movement, axes principles.

The aim of this practical course; the meeting of a director with actors in the presences of and instructor who advises and directs them. This is a preparation for real shooting and training in fundamental communication skills, eliminating the apprehensions of often more experienced co-workers
