FAMU students as journalism sources or the pitfalls of translating Czech documentaries into English.
John Robert McCrum is a leading English writer and journalist who is coming to the Czech Republic to collect material for his article about the „Prague Spring.“ Aside from memories he wishes to interview young people who know about the 1960s only through other sources. They will help him experience the roll of „confessors“ and consider methods of working with journalists vs. documentary makers. We will talk about the magazine Index of Cenzorship which McCrum writes for. This magazine (for which well-known Czech exiles wrote) monitored the encroachment of freedom speech in East European countries.
