2 Colour and Light
Objective : Master the tonal relationships and address fundamental composition problems.
Assignment : 1) Relationships between the number of tones and area sizes
Using pairs of shots, express the difference in the colour impact of objects with reduced/full tonality.

Consider simplicity or richness of resolution
2 – 3 pairs of shots
2) Light as an imagery component
Distinctive visual solution for the light and shade areas over the area of the shot.
Consider saturation and brightness of individual tones and colour differences between light and shade.
4-5 shots
3) Surface studies
Examples of texture studies and solutions for lighting surfaces of objects.
Choose matt, rough as well as smooth glossy surfaces and combinations thereof, reduced and full tonality sets.
4 – 6 shots
4) Colour contracts.
a) shades of a single colour
b) deep and non-deep tones
c) great colour differences
A still life created in the studio, or sets of objects found in the exterior
5) Distinctive light atmospheres in the landscape
Examples of strongly emotive light atmospheres in the exterior
5 -7 shots
6) Image analysis
a) complete and write an analysis of the shape, composition and light tone composition of a suitable painting from the National Gallery collection.
b) apply - light and tone relationships
- relationship between the figure and the space
in a photographic image of your own, while respecting the composition methods of the painting
Concept of the exercise:
The composition of all shots in the exercise must have distinctively visual characteristics, may not give an overly mannered impression, and must be based on real-life situations and visual art examples.
Completion of the exercise: Photographs of the digital recordings to be handed in by November 15 of this year.
