Film consultant Mikael Opstrup (EDN, Denmark) with producer and dramaturgist Likkou Vehkalahtim (Rough Cut Service/ IV Films, Finland) share their personal perspective and experience with various aspects of pitching trailers. How a trailer/pilot is properly understood and shows the essence of the film, directing quality and successfully grab the public and decision-makers.

Masterclass: Joe Bini - Personal Commentary on Documentary Film in the Eyes of the Editor

Celebrated documentary and feature film editor, Joe Bine will be devoted to the key role of the editor in documentary film. He will also focus on working with image and metaphor and their priority over the spoken word. He will also illustrate what steps and methods may help in maintaining dependent links in a film without the need to use anything but art film tools in examples of collaborations with directors like Werner Herzog, Nick Broomfield or Andrea Arnold.
Discussion Panel: How to proceed on the Austrian Market

Directors face, in introducing documentary films three barriers: they do not have enough experience, tools in the field and face encouter the case that documentary films have low attendance in traditional distribution. The aim of this lecture is to find a way to get over these barriers. Why to think about distribution at the beginning of film development, how to create an effective partnership for achieving that goal and how to get viewers. The lecturer Christopher Hird is an important figure in the field of independent documentary film in Great Britain.
