Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The aim of the special programme of Industry Days is to help make better quality Czech audiovisual works, be it features, documentaries or TV films. The programme is conceived in such a way that the current questions of Czech as well as of international cinematography are open for exploration; at the same time, it offers a platform for solutions and opens discussion between participants.

MIDPOINT: RUMLE HAMMERICH: SHARED VISION - Working in the Creative Triangle

Director, producer and writer Rumle Hammerich will talk about the importance of finding the theme, the core and the philosophy of the show and how this „shared vision“ is the common platform for the writer, the producer and the director. The script and the money are almost two-dimensional or digital, but a TV series will eventually happened in the third and fourth dimension and this is the director’s focus: transforming the script into four dimensions. Rumle Hammerich will talk about the director’s role and responsibility in a TV series production. Trust is the major element in the creative triangle. One vision is death.

How to use social media campaigns to improve and reach an even larger target audience? Based on the case studies, this presentation will show you how to use social media campaigns for fictions, documentaries and animations from development stage until the film's release. MIDPOINT: JACQUELINE DE GOELJ: PITCHES, BIBLES, PILOT SCRIPT – KEEPING THE SHOW CLOSE AT HEART

In the lecture we will discuss the do’s and dont’s in pitching and in presenting the bible and pilot scripts to the networks. We will discuss the difference between the English language market and the local European territories, exchange ideas and experiences, the process of developing the materials from idea to a finished show, and how to keep the presented material on track with the content of the show. We will talk about the roles of the different team members of the creative team and how to make sure there is a mutual agreement on the presentation is crucial.

CREATIVE EUROPE: SESSION ON TV PRODUCTION SUPPORT

Creative Europe – MEDIA gives every year 11.8 M EUR in the TV Programming scheme to support European independent production companies producing a television work demonstrating high creative value, cross-border potential and cooperation between broadcasters from at least three different countries. Works can be ‘one-off’ or serialised, dramas, animations and creative TV documentaries.

In this half an hour presentation we will explain the conditions of the grant and show some examples of projects supported in the previous years to illustrate the aim of this specific support scheme.

HAPPY HOUR & COFFEE WITH SCRIPT CONSULTING INCUBATOR

This year, the Czech Film Fund has launched the Script Consulting Incubator, an educational project for script editors and at the same time a supporting program for script development. Producers and filmmakers interested in participating in the Script Consulting Incubator may come and ask the organizers everything they are interested in, from application submission to the program itself. The organizers will also be happy to introduce this project to the foreign guests. The project will be represented by Marek Loskot and Eva Pjajčíková from the State Cinematography Fund, and Helena Zajícová from MIDPOINT, which organizes the project.

PANEL DISCUSSION: CZECH-FRENCH COPRODUCTION AND CO-OPERATION IN FILM AREA BETWEEN FRANCE AND CZECH REPUBLIC

The aim is to present some of the recent co-productions (minority and majority Czech) and incentivised French projects shot in Czech Republic, how the cooperation worked, a sort of case studies on the financing and production of these projects.

French and Czech co-production duos - producers involved in the incentivised projects will be present to discuss the topic. A moderated panel will explore the different aspects of Czech-French connection.
