Course contents:

Successful European producer and experienced instructor Danijel Hočevar using case studies of his own projects, presents the potential of contemporary European independent creations. At the end of the module there will be time for questions.

Credit will be awarded based on knowledge of the viewed films and 100% attendance.

Danijel Hočevar is one of the most experience and productive Slovene film producers. In 1986 he founded with film director and producer Damjan Kozole, Emotionfilm, the first independent production company in Slovenia and one of the first in the former Yugoslavia. In 1994, he founded a „sister“ company, Vertigo. He has produced or co-produced more than 30 feature films, including „Bread and Milk“ (2001, Future Lion for best first film at the Venice International Film Festival, „Spare Parts“ (2003, among others, Berlin International Film Festival Competition, Sarajevo Film Festival Competition - Special Jury award, Toronto International Film Festival), „The World is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner (2008), “The Woman Who Brushed off Her Tears (2012, Berlin International Film Festival Panorama), Circles (2013) or the drama „An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker“ from 2013 (among others. Jury Grand Priye and Silver Bear for Best Actor from International Film Festival Berlin).

Films he has produced have been shown in many countries and have received many awards at film festivals. He is a member of the European Film Academy and a member of the Nipkow Program Jury since 2005. From 2009 to 2013 he was a part of the instruction team for the EAVE education program.
