Basic orientation in international social media and platforms and Chinese political situation.

Course contents:

In the condition that many western social media such as Facebook, Youtube, Instagram etc have been censored in China, many Chinese are seemed living in another world which is created by many other local Chinese social media. For lots of western audience, the development or the present status of the Chinese social media is somehow a blind spot. This lecture will focus on the background introduction (especially some local media terms) and some remarkable events which took place in Chinese social media. By presenting these, the aim of the lecture is to have an overview understanding of Chinese social media
