The class is about competence and knowledge of basic film language and grammar, through analysis of material and screenings (also of students material.)

- Course contents:

Students are required to understand basic forms of film language, from frame and shot, to sequence and scene, as well as rhetorical figures, symbols, narrative functions, presentation of characters, inner and external conflict, dramatic problem as well as dramatic structure. Etc.
Classes are devoted to analysis of film text (ex. Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Schindler´s List etc), from filmmaker´s point of view. Students become familiar with film form and film excellence.
Knowledge of set, film staff, practical production and filmmaker´s experience and problems are also explored.

The final assignement is 2-page long paper. The details are given during the semester. The delivery date is mid of June via e-mail.
